What Causes Ghost Touches?

The digitizer layer of your screen detects electrical signals from your fingertip. When the digitizer receives false signals — from damage, interference, or hardware failure — it interprets them as real touch inputs.

• Damaged digitizer — physical damage or moisture exposure can cause the digitizer to generate false signals continuously.
• Faulty replacement screen — low-quality aftermarket digitizers are a leading cause of ghost touches and often worsen over time.
• Electrical interference — some third-party chargers produce electrical noise that interferes with the digitizer while charging.
• Screen protector issues — cracked, lifting, or incompatible screen protectors can create electrical interference on the digitizer surface.

Step 1: Isolating the Cause

We first remove any screen protector and test the phone bare. We also test with a different, known-good charger. If ghost touches stop with the screen protector removed or the charger unplugged, the cause is identified without needing to open the phone. Step 2: Screen Replacement
